2019. I went on a day trip to Tashiro Island in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture on a nice day in autumn. Tashirojima is famous as “Nekojima”, and it is a small island, but more than 100 cats live there. According to the clerk of the old private house cafe, w hich the population of the island is about 60 people, so it's an island with cats overwhelmingly more than people. As the population of the island is decreasing year by year due to depopulation, we are worried about the future, but it seems that NPO corporations are also doing is land revitalization activities to protect the rich nature and traditional culture. |
